From CNC to optimised additive manufacturing with DfAM
Originally machined at great effort from a solid steel block, this hydraulic block was optimised by us for 3D printing.
Designing it with FEM reduced the weight by 83% at the same compressive strength.
The material used was stainless steel 316L, matching the original material S355J2+N.
