Swissloop Achieves Complex Composite Parts – Thanks to a 3D-Printed Tool
How Replique worked with ETH Zurich to engineer a large-scale lamination mold for the Swissloop pod – 3D printed by our partner 3D Systems.
How Replique Helped
The Challenge
Manufacturing the Swissloop pod required a large-scale lamination mold. It needed a high-quality, laminate-ready surface and had to withstand the autoclave process – all within a tight timeframe.
The Solution
Replique supported the engineering phase in close collaboration with Swissloop and ETH Zurich. The 3D-printed mold was then machined on the inside to achieve the surface quality required for lamination. The pod's seat was also 3D printed. Both parts were produced through our partner 3D Systems.
The Result
Swissloop successfully used the machined mold for lamination and autoclave curing – forming the basis of the final pod shell. Together with the 3D-printed seat, this resulted in a ready-to-use pod with complex geometries.
From Engineering to a Ready-to-Use Pod Shell

Swissloop laminated the composite mold, cured it in the autoclave, and installed the 3D-printed seat – completing the final pod shell.
